Oatmeal raisin cookies are completely underrated. Have you ever noticed that bakeries never seem to get their cookie proportions right? By the end of the day, the , sugar cookie, and baskets are nothing but crumbs, but the oatmeal raisin basket looks like the loaves and fishes parable. I mean, the oatmeal raisin basket is practically overflowing.
For a self-proclaimed fan, I for one am all for it. In fact, I feel like it’s an injustice to cookie world that more people don’t eat oatmeal raisin cookies. They’re so good. I mean, really, really good.
I know they don’t have chocolate in them. Or peanut butter. Buuut. They have cinnamon. A drizzle of white chocolate (optional). Oaty goodness. And sweet raisins.
Give ’em a chance. With the oatmeal and raisins, these are practically breakfast material. How could you not be in love with them?
These cookies are full of everything that makes oatmeal raisin cookies, well, oatmeal raisin cookies. Plus, I may have added an non-traditional ingredient or two, which, in my opinion, makes these bad boys top-notch.
The two secret ingredients? All Spice and Maple Syrup. Come at me, fall flavors (winter flavors? I don’t know. They’re just good.)
Like most cookies, this dough begins with a creamed butter and sugar base–brown sug and white sug. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and maple syrup.
Next, sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and all spice. Add in the oats. Toss with the wet ingredients. Mix until dough is just combined. Add in the raisins (golden, regular, a little of both–do what feels right). Bake for 10-12 minutes. Drizzle with white chocolate love.
