The first full weekend (i.e. Sat & Sun) of each month is designated to collect food and/or food gift cards or money to provide assistance to the less fortunate in our local geographic area. Contributions may consist of a standard “complete bag”, or any portion thereof; “Bulk Food”; large containers; packages or boxes of requested items; and of course food gift cards and/or money that may be deposited in the designated mail box on the food rack at any time. Standard size business cards, listing the contents of a “complete bag” and/or “bulk food” contributions, are always available at the display on the food rack in the narthex of the church. Food sorting takes place at 6:30 PM on Sunday evening of food weekend and the food delivery to the appropriate destinations is completed the very next day. The current beneficiaries of this effort are FISH of Howard County (a non-affiliated, all-volunteer organization, active for 35 years); the Franciscan Center and The Blasé Cooke Center: MyBrothers Keeper, “because hope needs a home”.
