I know its been a while but it has been on my mind, just not finding the time to get to it. But that shouldn’t be the excuse. Hopefully not again. So living in this busy world where everyone is so busy in their daily routine from work, kids, household chores, cooking etc, we need quick and easy choices where we don’t have to spend so much time.
Today I am bringing you the instant version which is Rava Appe, made of sooji/rava(semolina). Appe is a traditional South Indian recipe which is made using rice flour and urad dal which is soaked overnight. Appe can be breakfast or snack depending on you how you want to serve it.
I just love South Indian food, do you? I sometimes think, I should have been born in a South Indian family instead. When I used to go out to eat back home, I would always prefer to order dosa, idli over any non veg dishes. We all enjoyed these easy delicious apple, hope you all like it…
Ingredients:
Directions:
Mix sooji, yogurt and water, set aside for 20-25 minutes. Add chopped onion, green chilies, and cilantro along with salt, baking soda and red chili powder. Mix well. Make sure the batter is not thin or thick. Should be like idli batter.
To make the appe you need appe pan or abelskiver pan. Heat the pan and add drop or two of olive oil in each of the moulds. Pour a tablespoon and just a little more into each mould. Cover it and cook it on slow to medium heat.
After 3-4 minutes you will see the edges will be slightly brown then you can turn them over to cook on the other side.
Once they are done on both sides take it to using wooden skewers or a spatula given with the pan itself.
Serve hot with coconut chutney or mint chutney.
