Home Brew and Cracker Jack
Have you caught the home brewing bug yet? Professor Plum and I have made home-brew for a couple of years. We usually set aside some of our bounty to give as Christmas presents. People have come to expect this from us and ask what we are making this year.
After a messy over boil on the stove and a carboy explosion in the pantry, our current brew has calmed down nicely and will sit for a few more weeks until it is ready to be bottled. And then after bottling it will sit for a few more weeks before it is ready to be sampled.
Professor Plum picks out kits from . They are a great resource for novice brewers and will answer any question you have. They also have videos on-line that walk you through the process. What is brewing now is . I can’t wait to sample it! Brown ale’s are my favorite.
We save bottles from earlier beer purchases to put the home-brew in and are going to bottle some bombers this time-a 22 ounce bottle. Woo-hoo, less bottles to cap .
You may have heard that if you can boil water you can make beer. It is a little more complicated and time-consuming than that. If you want to give your brew as gifts, you need to plan ahead. Different kits require different brewing lengths.
What would go with a six-pack of beer? how about some homemade Cracker Jack (recipe below). Last year I made mustard with our home-brew and used it in a mustard sampler gift pack.
These from Brenda at would also make a great companion gift.
Beer, popcorn and peanuts. Now that’s a winning combination. .
What is your favorite beer/snack combination?
