Every time I had an urge to stop, I had to force myself to focus on something else – whether it was the exercise itself, the trainer’s voice or even on the muscle burn to take me out of the thinking zone.
I’m one of those people that think if a little of something is good, then a lot of it must be better. And this really applied to my nutrition.
When I look back on how I used to eat, I didn’t eat a lot of bad things, I just ate a whole lot of the good things. When I should only eat 1/4 of an avocado, I ate a whole avocado instead. When I should only be eating 1/2 a banana a day, I ate a whole banana twice a day.
The colored containers were genius. The eating plan really helped me to figure out how much I should eat of what food groups.
I’m always rushing around doing stuff and I always feel like I’m short on time. gave me full control of what I put into my mouth, even when I was busy as hell. Instead of just grabbing whatever was lying around to eat, I knew exactly what I should eat every day.
Here’s a sample of what this week’s meal plan was like:
can be a huge motivating factor. And just because you’re doing a workout program from home, doesn’t mean that you can’t partake in the enthusiasm, accountability and group camraderie that only a group can give you.
This is where social media really brings people together.
I was a part of the on Facebook. Everyone in this group was working towards the same goal. We started on the same day. Most of us ate in the same way. And everyone was super enthusiastic. We all had something in common even if we came from all different walks of life. There was so much enthusiasm and passion coming from the people in the group. That alone was enough to help keep me going when times were getting tough.
If you do a workout program through , you can join a Facebook group, chat group or forum to share likeminded interests with others. Some other places you can join a group are at , , and .
Getting fit and in shape is definitely a journey, although I wish it was more like immediate gratification. And since I’m still in pursuit of the ever elusive six-pack of abs, I have no other choice than to grit my teeth, buckle down and go for another round. I’m not going to give up.
