Mt. Rainier is one of the most challenging and rewarding adventures in the United States. At ClimbPrep we have been up and down the mountain a number of times and can’t see to get enough of this beauty. It’s a true mountaineering experience to spend the night at Camp Muir and then wake up at 1AM to head for the summit. Glacier, ropes, crevasses, and a long difficult climb make this an unforgettable experience.
At 14,411 feet this mountain is both spectacular and dangerous. Over half of people that attempt the summit on Mt Rainier fail to make it. There are a number of reasons for this which all can be avoided with proper planning. Mt Rainier is a volcano and full of deep crevases and uncertain terrain, it is hazardous up there if you don’t know what you are doing.
The purpose of this guide is to give you a good look at the mountain, help you prepare, teach some climbing technique, increase your potential to reach the summit and most importantly help you return home safe at the end of your climb.
Some of the things we discuss on the DVD are:

-Safety – Whether you are planning on utilizing a guide service or not, some good knowledge of safety techniques could save your life up there. We’ll cover some of the most important things that your guide may or may not tell you to help make sure you make it home safe.
-Gear – Having the right equipment is another important part of the climb for both safety and success. We discuss the most up to date gear and make some recommmendations from our experience.
-Routes – We will show you what some of the routes up the mountain look like. On trail footage, some good looks at camps, and we’ll give you the feeling of what the hike is really like.
