Massachusetts Fishing Communities Initiative Grants
Action, Inc. Gloucester $20,000 – Program support to help unemployed and underemployed Cape Ann residents, many formerly employed by the fishing industry, to build skills and find jobs
Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance Chatham $15,000 – Program support to help fishermen build industry capacity around emerging changes in fisheries management across New England
Catholic Charities, North Region Lynn $10,000 – Program support for the Emergency Program for Fishermen and their Families, providing funds for the short-term emergency financial needs of fishing families
Community Development Partnership * Eastham $30,000 – Support for the Cape Cod Fisheries Trust Program, which aims to organize and stabilize fishing and shellfishing by offering small business financing, technical business assistance, education, and leadership development for locals in the industry
Community Economic Development Center of Southeastern Massachusetts * New Bedford $20,000 – Operating support to provide tax preparation assistance and build financial literacy skills with fishing families, focusing particularly on immigrant fishing industry workers
Gulf of Maine Research Institute Portland, Maine $20,000 – Support to work with New England’s groundfish communities as the industry adapts to a new regulatory system, management practices, and a rapidly changing ecosystem
Homeless Prevention Council Orleans $10,000 – Supporting fishing industry individuals and families at risk of becoming homeless on the Lower Cape
Immigrants’ Assistance Center New Bedford $15,000 – Support for ESOL classes, citizenship training, and information and referral services provided to members of the immigrant fishing community of New Bedford and their families
Lower Cape Outreach Council Orleans $17,500 – Operating support to meet the short-term emergency financial needs of fishing families on Cape Cod while also working to address chronic economic challenges to the community
The Open Door Gloucester $15,000 – Operating support to expand food pantry outreach programs connecting Cape Ann fishing families to healthy food
Penobscot East Resource Center Stonington, Maine $12,500 – Program support to help provide and administer technical assistance to protect short term and long term interests of fishermen organizing with the harvesting co-op known as Northeast Coastal Communities Sector
People Acting in Community Endeavors, Inc. (PACE) for YouthBuild New Bedford New Bedford $15,000 – Program support for YouthBuild New Bedford’s targeted outreach to enroll and support children of fishermen in job training and educational programming
Positive Action Against Chemical Addiction, Inc. (PAACA) New Bedford $20,000 – Support for services provided to individuals and families related to any aspect of the fishing industry and who are seeking help to overcome addiction

Action for Boston Community Development – North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center Boston $10,000 – General operating support for comprehensive neighborhood-based elder services
La Alianza Hispana Boston $10,000 – Operating support for services to low-income Latino seniors
Boston Medical Center / Elders Living at Home Program Boston $10,000 – Operating support to provide emergency shelter, case management, and rapid housing for vulnerable elders in Greater Boston
Duxbury Beach Reservation, Inc. Duxbury $250 – In memory of trustee Jonathan Nash
Ellis Memorial and Eldredge House Boston $10,000 – Operating support for the Adult Day Health Program
Friendship Works Boston $20,000 – Operating support for volunteer programs providing visiting services and medical escorts to frail, isolated elders
Greater Boston Legal Services Boston $10,000 – Operating support for the Affordable Housing Project for Elders providing representation for elders illegally or inappropriately threatened with eviction, and working to preserve long-term affordable housing units
Hearth, Inc. Boston $20,000 – General operating support to provide low-income and formerly homeless elders with service-enriched affordable housing as well as housing search, stabilization, and homelessness prevention services
Homeowner Options for Massachusetts Elders Boston $25,000 – Operating support for counseling and educational services to help low-income elders age in place through the Elder Homeowner Displacement Prevention program
Inquilinos Boricuas en Accion Boston $7,500 – Support for the Villa Victoria Elder Support Program’s services to low-income Latino elders
Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly Brighton $7,500 – Operating support for Caring Choices, a safety-net of support services for low-income older adults
Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers Cambridge $10,000 – Support for the Elder Services Program, providing socialization and nutrition for Portuguese-speaking elders of Cambridge and Somerville
Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership Boston $7,500 – Support for specialized intensive programs and services to provide high-need elders with housing support
Neighborhood of Affordable Housing East Boston $10,000 – Support of routine and emergency minor home repairs and home counseling for elders in East Boston, Charlestown, and Chelsea
Rogerson Communities Boston $10,000 – Operating support for the Adult Day Health Center in Roslindale providing general services as well as a program for elders living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia
South Boston Neighborhood House Boston $10,000 – Support for the Senior Center offering programming chosen by and for elders in the community
United South End Settlements Boston $10,000 – Operating support for the Senior Home Repair and Senior Health and Enrichment programs
Women of Means Wellesley $7,500 – Program support to implement primary health care services within day shelters for homeless women

Associated Grant Makers Boston $1,500 – Support for local regional association of grantmakers
Grantmakers in Aging Arlington, Virginia $700 – Membership support of national grantmaker affinity group
