POSITION: Assistant to Associate Professor in Nutrition Sciences, R.D.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Earned doctorate degree in Nutrition Sciences or closely related field; registered dietitian; member of the Academy for Nutrition and Dietetics; established research agenda addressing the role of diet in health, human behavior or quality of life; professional experience in nutrition/food sciences; eligibility for licensure by the State of Texas; and collaborative working style (strong communication and interpersonal skills) with faculty and students. Desirable: Evidence of successful teaching experience in higher education; familiarity with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) standards and accreditation process; supervision of student research; record of research publications and grants; previous collaborations with health-related agencies. Most of these qualifications would be expected for rank at the Associate Professor level.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate classes in areas such as advanced nutrition, lifecycle nutrition, sports nutrition, nutrition education, food science and medical nutrition therapy; establish and maintain a strong research agenda with scholarly publications in peer-reviewed literature; seek and acquire grants to support research or practical applications; mentor students; supervise practice; participate in relevant professional activities; and provide service to the university, community and profession.

Most of these qualifications would be expected for rank at the Associate Professor level.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The Family and Consumer Sciences Department, is one of four anchor units in the newly formed Baylor University College of Health and Human Sciences (and has approximately 500 undergraduate students with nineteen full-time faculty positions and six part-time/adjunct faculty members. The department is organized in four divisions: Apparel Studies, Child and Family Studies, Interior Design, and Nutrition Sciences. The Nutrition Sciences program at Baylor is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. Nutrition students choose from dietetics (DPD), food service management or pre-health undergraduate curricular emphases. With an 85% match rate for dietetic internships and a 96% pass rate for graduates taking the R.D. registration exam the first time, our undergraduate program is one of the most successful in the country. The Master of Science program is in its third year and a self-study is underway to establish a dietetic internship program through Baylor. Facilities for the Nutrition Sciences Division include the Sunderland Food Sciences Research Lab, Experimental Food Preparation Lab and the Body Composition Lab.
